Current activities​

The Association is currently active in the following areas:

We have:

  • Responded to the additional fees review

 

  • Responded to consultation on a proposed long-term sickness policy.

  • Responded to consultation on changes to the permitted retirement age.
 
  • Made representations in relation to the inclusion of fee paid judges in the bi-annual survey of judges’ views
     
  • Made representations informally on other matters, such as fees being paid for earlier cancellations, and increases in the limits on hotel expenses.

 

  • Run a survey on attitudes of the fee-paid judiciary towards the Flexible Operating Hours pilots.
  • Responded to consultations on proposed changes to Judicial Terms and Conditions, including pensions and sitting days.
  • Liaised in relation to HMCTS Reform
  • Had input into  the Briggs review of the structure of the Courts and the creation of the Online Court
  • Responded to the Mackenzie Friend Consultation.

In addition, we:

  • Provide assistance for Members facing judicial conduct complaints
  • Encourage and help with mentoring
  • Organise social events, such as informal suppers attended by both members and leadership judges
